Food Chain Games

The food chain is a kind of game where the children are made to investigate the food chains by playing the role animals.

The term food chain can be defined as the process of transfer of the food from its original source that is the plant to more lives or organism. The entire chain of the photosynthesis usually begins with the photosynthesis.

The game involves four kind of links to food chain .they are the grasshoppers, the hawk ,the frogs and the plants .
The popcorn will represent the plant world .The students will play the role of a grasshopper ,who is plant eater ,the frog who eats the grasshopper and the hawk who will consume the frog.
In each round of the game it is important that the animal should get sufficient to consume and should avoid from getting eaten .In this particular game the overall population is evry less .it comprises of the 2 frogs,2 grasshoppers and 1 hawk. This represents a balance food chain.

The total number of students that are required is around 10-12, however if you can add more that will be exciting. The total play time is not more than 40 minutes. The playing area has to be sufficiently big

It will be better to introduce the game to the students in class room. The entire chain of the plant ,grasshopper the frog and the hawk are to be explained very well. It is essential to assign there role o the student.

Then once they are in the playground scatter some popped corn in the decided area .this are the plants that the grass hopper will be eating.

Let them dress like the animal they will be representing .Provide them each a sandwich bag that will represent the stomach. Once the game will start the grasshopper will start eating the pop corn plants .the frogs in turn will be eating the grasshoppers .they can do this by tagging the grasshoppers. Once a grasshopper gets tag then he/she will have to give the sandwich bag to the frog and have to leave the game area.

When a hawk tags a grasshopper simultaneously the frog also gives away the bg and leaves the area.It is essential to emphasis that the animals can only eat those things tat they are assigned to and northing else .The frog and the hawk has the permission to eat as many as grasshopper and frog possible.

This round can be stretched to 5-6 minutes until a class of animal is eaten .Once you recorder the initial starting population begin the game and set the challenge

Once the first round gets over kindly note the strength left .In case of grasshopper the sandwich bag should be filled 4.5 cm .In case of the frog it should be 7 cm.The hawk must eat at least one frog to survive the game. In case any of the sandwich bag has les than the standard unit then they will starve to death

In order to maintain the entire chain it is essential for 2 grasshopper ,2 frogs and at least 1 hawk to survive
